Granite of Ancient Land

The word granite has the same etymology as the word grain, which reflects the most prominent structural feature of granite. These grains are mostly quartz, feldspar, mica, and amphibole tightly interlocked with one another. The grains of these minerals are large enough to be discernable by the naked eye, meaning that the formation process of granite is long enough for the minerals to grow into large crystals.

Granite can be found in many parts of the world. Old continents, in particular, consist of granite, making it a rock that has born witness to the earth’s deep history. Due to its beautiful patterns and robust physical attributes, it is also widely used in construction.
